Colorado Bans Christian Counseling—We’re Fighting Back

Imagine seeking help from a trusted counselor who shares your values—someone who understands your faith, your convictions, and your desire to live according to the truth of God’s design. Now imagine the government stepping in and declaring that this kind of counseling is not just “wrong,” but illegal.

That’s exactly what’s happening in Colorado.

In Chiles v. Salazar, we are standing with a licensed Christian counselor who has been prohibited by law from offering talk therapy that aligns with both his clients’ biological sex and their deeply held religious beliefs. Even when a child wants help embracing the body God gave them, Colorado says “no.” Compassionate conversation has now been labeled a form of “conversion therapy”—and banned outright.

The State Has Criminalized Biblical Counseling
This isn’t therapy that coerces or shames. This is simply a Christian counselor listening, speaking truth, and encouraging children to accept who they are as male or female—created in the image of God. But according to Colorado’s radical law, even talking in this way is considered “dangerous.”

This is not just bad science—it’s unconstitutional.

Free speech? Violated.
Religious liberty? Silenced.
Parental rights? Ignored.

The Government Has No Right to Police Conversations
Let’s be clear: this case isn’t about forcing beliefs on anyone. It’s about protecting the right of families to seek help that reflects their own values. When the government decides which beliefs are acceptable and which are “dangerous,” freedom is lost.

What’s next?

❌ Banning pastors from preaching biblical truth?
❌ Punishing parents for guiding their children in faith?
❌ Declaring Christian values a public threat?

The Courts Must Stop This Tyranny
We filed an amicus brief in Chiles v. Salazar to stand against this dangerous overreach. The Constitution guarantees freedom of speech and religion—not just for counselors, but for every American.

If the courts uphold this law, it won’t just affect one counselor in Colorado. It will set a chilling precedent that the government can dictate what’s acceptable to say, believe, and practice in your own profession—and even in your own family.

We Cannot Stay Silent
The Foundation for Moral Law is committed to defending those who are targeted for living out their faith. We are taking this battle to the courts, but we need your help.

If we don’t fight back, Christian counselors across the country will be forced to either betray their convictions—or walk away from their calling.

Will you stand with us to defend freedom, truth, and parental rights?
